SCUTREA 2016 Conference - Promotional Activity

SCUTREA Council, in collaboration with the Vaughan Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Leicester, are currently busy organising our 2016 Conference. The conference will be held in the College Court Conference Centre in Leicester from Tuesday 5th to Thursday 7th July 2016, on 'Adult Education in Austere Times'. Researchers to tackle issue of adult education in austere times

Within this press release, Dr Nalita James from the Vaughan Centre for Lifelong Learning, and SCUTREA Council Member, stated that: ‘the lack of government investment in adult education has come at a time when the UK has an ageing population and people have extended working lives. In addition, the introduction of tuition fees in higher education has led to a major decline in mature student numbers, especially in part-time provision. The conference is timely, exploring how investment in adult education can support a stronger economy, promote social mobility and well-being, and offer those with the greatest need, opportunities to contribute to society.’

Information on our conference can also be found on the Vaughan Centre web site at: http://www2.le.ac.uk/news/events/2016/july/scutrea-conference-2016-adult-education-in-austere-times/.
