Doctoral Student Bursaries
For the 2018 SCUTREA conference, three bursaries
are available to doctoral students studying in the UK who are on low
incomes, not employed full time in HE and/or who do not have institutional
support. Bursaries will also be given to students outside the UK if they
or their institutions are members of SCUTREA. Applications from Masters’
students who do not have institutional support, and adult education
practitioners/activists/researchers will also be considered. Applicants
must address the themes of the conference and demonstrably contribute to the
field of adult education research.
Each awarded bursary will pay for students to
attend the full conference only (Residential - Rate A). Award holders
will be responsible for meeting their own travel costs.
Each bursary will be awarded on a competitive
basis.
Applicants should plan their bursary applications
well in advance, taking careful note of the SCUTREA ‘call for paper’ deadlines.
The following criteria apply when assessing
applications for potential funding:
Presenting at the SCUTREA conference
An abstract (accepted for presentation) followed by a full paper to be submitted by 5pm (GMT) the 14th of May 2018 (see call for papers).
Covering letter demonstrating a commitment to adult education and lifelong learning and explaining why they require the bursary.
Please make it clear when you submit your abstract
that you are also applying for a conference bursary. The application deadline
for each bursary is the same date as the revised abstract submission deadline:
9th of February 2018.
Successful applicants can expect to hear the
outcome of their applications within a month of the deadline.
International Bursaries
SCUTREA is delighted to announce that
as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting researchers internationally, it
is offering two international bursaries at the SCUTREA Conference.
Complimentary conference registration
will be provided for successful applicants. Bursaries should be used towards
the cost of economy travel to and from the conference, accommodation and
subsistence.
